SHORT TERM INTERNATIONAL
ASSIGNMENTS
I have been engaged as an
external collaborator and short-term consultant by different
organizations. Below is a brief description in chronological
order.
A) ILO, Jakarta.
Engaged as International
Consultant under the Project Sectoral Employment Policy
and Planning (INS/90/035) for six months (June to December
1995). During the first four months I was placed at the
Ministry of Manpower where I provided guidance and input
into the establishment of Labour Market Monitoring System
at the Ministry in addition to provision of guidance in
the employment policy formulation. In the remaining two
months of my consultancy I was placed in the Planning
Commission to review the progress made so far under the
project in different line ministries and to offer
recommendations for future activities to be undertaken by
the Planning Commission to improve the employment
situation.
B) International
Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Gland Switzerland
(1989)
Worked as a short-term
Collaborator on the project "Population and Resource Use"
as a member of a team of researchers from different
countries. I was engaged in the documentation of
Pakistan's experience in population growth, its
distribution and relationship with the resource use. I
also participated in the preparation of a guide book for
the developing countries for understanding the nexus
between Population Growth and Resources. In this
connection I visited Ghana too.
C) ILO (ARPLA)
Bangkok (1988)
Worked as a
short-term Consultant for a regional project on "Labour
Market Policy Formulation to Maximize the Benefits from
Middle East Labour Emigration". I visited some of the
ESCAP countries to compile the necessary information and
discuss the relevant issues with policy makers. The report
was submitted to ILO (ARPLA).
D) Asian Pacific
Development Center, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
(1988)
Participated as an
external collaborator and member of multi-country
researchers' team to formulate a strategy for full
employment in the ESCAP countries.
E)
UNDTCD (1987)
Worked as a short-term
Consultant in Amman Jordan for one month in a UNDTCD
project with Ministry of Planning. My assignment was to
train the officials of the Ministry in the techniques of
manpower planning.
F) ESCAP
Population Division Bangkok (1986)
Worked as an External
collaborator on the WHO/ESCAP project "Mortality and
Health Issues in Asia".
G) World
Fertility Survey Organisation,
London (1984)
Worked as Consultant for one
month wherein I collaborated with WFS researchers in the
analysis of the Population, Labour Force and Migration
Survey (PLM) data on Pakistan.
H) East West
Population Centre University of Hawaii Honolulu USA (1983)
Worked as a Research
Associate for one month.
